Aratere Ferry

Ampac protects 150-metre long Aratere Ferry sailing in the Cook Strait, New Zealand.

Aratere is a 150-meter roll-on / roll-off rail and vehicle ferry that sails across the Cook Strait from Wellington to Picton four times a day. The ferry was built in 1998 and lengthened in 2011 to accommodate up to 600 passengers and has three separate viewing decks.

Ampac was contacted to supply a marine-compliant fire detection system for the ferry, which included a network of FireFinder Marine Intelligent Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panels with approximately 650 Loop Devices, a VDR Interface, and SmartGraphics Graphical Event Management System.
